He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1938, Union College in 1942, and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1946. Following postgraduate training at Kings County Hospital in New York City, and Brooklyn State Hospital, he served as a Captain in the United States Army in New Cumberland, PA through 1949. He was the former partner with his brother in Brill's Pharmacy on Bardstown Road for 40 years. She is survived by her beloved daughters: Susan Goodman and Robin Goodman (Lydia Pritchard); sisters: Sonia Davidson and Florence Weinstein of Connecticut; and brothers: Leo (Shirley), Alvin (Linda) and Herschel Borowick.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara "Bobbie;" sons: Dr.
Lawrence (Tracy) and Craig Rouben (Willow); daughters: Leann Culbertson (Mark) and Celeste Barone (Tom) of Davidson, NC; grandchildren: Alec Rouben and Hudson Rouben, Tessa and Seth Culbertson, and Harrison and Kyle Barone; also brother Alvin Rouben (Dorothy) of San Diego, CA; and sister, Leba Frank (Werner); as well as many lifelong family and friends.
He was a member of Valhalla and his greatest joy was playing golf. As long as the sun was shining, he was on the first tee, waiting to share time with his friends and maybe even win a few bucks.
When not on the golf course, you could find Bert and Ann Leah, his loving wife of 51 years, at the race track or at a U of L game.
He never missed a sporting event or recital for any of his grandchildren and viewed his family as his greatest legacy.
Frank worked for the state mental hospital systems of Pennsylvania and Connecticut, and became Director of State Mental Health Services of Pennsylvania. Bert was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and was involved in commercial real estate his whole life, putting together deals for apartments, office buildings and shopping centers.
His business lunches at The Terrace restaurant on top of the Kaden Tower were lengendary.
He was a lifelong member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun, the Jefferson County Pharmacy Association, the Veteran Drug Club, and the University of Kentucky Alumni Association.
